Ashley Maul, DVM, MBA, CVA – Veterinarian
Dr. Ashley Maul is a life-long equestrian and animal lover. Having grown up in central Illinois on her family’s horse farm surrounded by animals, she was first introduced at a young age to Veterinary Medicine through the family’s mixed-animal veterinarian.
After graduating Illinois College with her Bachelor’s in Biology she then attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and received her DVM degree in 2011. Dr. Maul then went on to complete her Masters in Business degree from the University of Illinois Gies School of Business. GO Illini!
Dr. Maul has been fortunate to gain extensive experience in both specialty and general practice settings. She has a keen interest in providing complete care for patients, especially pain management, which lead Dr. Maul to additional training in veterinary acupuncture, chiropractic and laser therapy. This allows for faster healing and improved comfort for her patients and she has practiced with these added modalities for the past 12+ years.
For much of the past decade, Dr. Maul had called Columbus, Ohio her home as she was the practice owner of a busy multi-doctor practice in close proximity to The Ohio State University. It is during this time that she developed her love for internal medicine and working to find answers in challenging and complex cases, as well as, furthering her interests in dentistry and surgery.
After traveling back and forth in the winter months as her work schedule allowed from OH to FL, it was her desire to move full time to a warmer climate with access to top equestrian sports. This led Dr. Maul to the Wellington, FL area for the past two years where she worked in critical and emergency medicine at two leading specialty and referral hospitals. This added experience with critical hospitalized patients and emergent presenting cases greatly enhanced her case management and her experience, which she now brings to Stone Ridge Animal Hospital.
All things do come full circle as one would say, and after spending many “seasons” and time off in Ocala over the past 25+ years she felt it was indeed time to become a permanent resident of the area. It could not be more fitting that Dr. Maul and her husband, Errol, of over 20 years along with their rescue dogs Greta and Mabel now reside in NW Ocala with…. let’s just say “several” horses.
When not working, Dr. Maul can be found spending time with her furry kids and horses. Dr. Maul has competed at the FEI level in both Eventing and Dressage and currently rides and loves a well-known mare, Adiah HP, whom she shows at Grand Prix level dressage.
